Famous quotes containing the words root and/or beer:

“Black creeps from root to root,
    each leaf
cuts another leaf on the grass,
    shadow seeks shadow,
    then both leaf
    and leaf-shadow are lost.”
    —Hilda Doolittle (1886–1961)

“Now I am alone with the dead,
    flying off bridges,
hurling myself like a beer can into the wastebasket.
I am flying like a single red rose,
    leaving a jet stream
    of solitude....”
    —Anne Sexton (1928–1974)
