Hiram Burnett - Children

Children

Two children have been born to Mr. Burnett and wife, one of whom survives, - Charles Hiram Burnett Sr., - who is superintendent of the South Prairie Coal Company at Burnett, Washington in Pierce County, Washington, and who is active in the coal development of Washington State. His daughter was Nellie Maria who was married to Stephen Pearl Andrews II nephew of anarchist essayist Stephen Pearl Andrews. Nellie Maria Burnett's second husband was Stewart Hoskinson (together they were the great-grandparents of Michelle Phillips). Politically, Mr. Burnett is a stanch Republican. While at Port Gamble he served as Justice of the Peace, and for ten years as Probate Judge, and has also served a term as Commissioner of King County, Washington.

Famous quotes containing the word children:

The spectacle of misery grew in its crushing volume. There seemed to be no end to the houses full of hunted starved children. Children with dysentery, children with scurvy, children at every stage of starvation.... We learned to know that the barometer of starvation was the number of children deserted in any community.
    Mary Heaton Vorse (1874–1966)

You have a lifetime to work, but children are only young once.
—Polish Proverb. New York Times Magazine (February 20, 1994)

Our Germany’s dead. However hard this may be for some of us older people, it’s a blessing for our children. Our children grew up against new backgrounds, new horizons. And they are free. Free to grow up as children. Free to run and to laugh without being forced into uniforms. Without being forced to march up and down streets, singing battle songs.
    Emeric Pressburger (1902–1988)
