Hillsdale Academy - Curriculum

Curriculum

The Hillsdale Academy features a traditional core of essential subjects: phonics, reading, penmanship, writing, spelling, grammar and mechanics, rhetoric, literature, history, geography, geology, classical and modern foreign language, arithmetic, mathematics, science, music, art, and physical education. The Academy forms its curriculum in order to give students a basic understanding of fundamental academic skills, to allow students to explore the arts and sciences, and to give an understanding of the foundational tenets of the nation's ideological Judeo-Christian and Greco-Roman heritage.

Famous quotes containing the word curriculum:

If we focus exclusively on teaching our children to read, write, spell, and count in their first years of life, we turn our homes into extensions of school and turn bringing up a child into an exercise in curriculum development. We should be parents first and teachers of academic skills second.
    Neil Kurshan (20th century)
