High Striker - Safety

Safety

There are no serious safety implications with the high striker. The detachment of the bell is a rare occurrence, only appearing in television shows, films, and cartoons as an exaggeration to show excessive strength. The high striker's operator usually gives the contestant the liberty to hold the mallet in any manner. On some instances, the operator supplies the contestant with a pair of gloves to firmly grip the handle of the mallet. Still, there is a potential risk that the contestant may lose his or her grip and throw the mallet.

Famous quotes containing the word safety:

... what a family is without a steward, a ship without a pilot, a flock without a shepherd, a body without a head, the same, I think, is a kingdom without the health and safety of a good monarch.
    Elizabeth I (1533–1603)

Perhaps having built a barricade when you’re sixteen provides you with a sort of safety rail. If you’ve once taken part in building one, even inadvertently, doesn’t its usually latent image reappear like a warning signal whenever you’re tempted to join the police, or support any manifestation of Law and Order?
    Jean Genet (1910–1986)

Man gives every reason for his conduct save one, every excuse for his crimes save one, every plea for his safety save one; and that one is his cowardice.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)
