High Royds Hospital - Treatments

Treatments

The use of ETC was popular at High Royds, they used to give patients an electric shock which would send them into an epileptic seizure, this was in hope that the brain would shut down, and start again, on a better route. Also, insulin therapy was used at High Royds, patients were forced to overdose on the diabetic treatment of insulin, it would burn up all their blood sugar sending them into a coma, hoping for the same outcome as ECT. High Royds was also exposed for the great deal of patient abuse which went on there, doctors used to hold patients underwater, throw things at them, and beat them for things which staff determined "Punishable".
