Failover Strategies
Systems that handle failures in distributed computing have different strategies to cure a failure. For instance, the Apache Cassandra API Hector (API) defines three ways to configure a failover:
- FAIL_FAST: The try fails if the first node cannot be reached.
- ON_FAIL_TRY_ONE_NEXT_AVAILABLE: Tries one more host before giving up
- ON_FAIL_TRY_ALL_AVAILABLE: Tries all existing nodes before giving up

Famous quotes containing the word strategies:
“By intervening in the Vietnamese struggle the United States was attempting to fit its global strategies into a world of hillocks and hamlets, to reduce its majestic concerns for the containment of communism and the security of the Free World to a dimension where governments rose and fell as a result of arguments between two colonels wives.”
—Frances Fitzgerald (b. 1940)
