Source Code
In early 1999, the source code of Heretic was published by Raven Software under a license that granted rights to non-commercial use, and was re-released under the GNU General Public License on September 4, 2008. This resulted in ports to Linux and other operating systems, and updates to the Heretic engine to utilize 3D acceleration. The shareware version of a console port for Dreamcast was also released.
The Blasphemer project aims to create a free content package for the Heretic engine, with a theme of metal-inspired dark fantasy - in a similar way as Freedoom does with the Doom engine.

Famous quotes containing the words source and/or code:
“Because relationships are a primary source of self-esteem for girls and women, daughters need to know they will not lose our love if they speak up for what they want to tell us how they feel about things. . . . Teaching girls to make specific requests, rather than being indirect and agreeable, will help them avoid the pitfalls of having to be manipulative and calculating to get what they want.”
—Jeanne Elium (20th century)
“Many people will say to working mothers, in effect, I dont think you can have it all. The phrase for have it all is code for have your cake and eat it too. What these people really mean is that achievement in the workplace has always come at a priceusually a significant personal price; conversely, women who stayed home with their children were seen as having sacrificed a great deal of their own ambition for their families.”
—Anne C. Weisberg (20th century)
