Famous quotes containing the word marriage:

Let a man do what he will by a single woman, the world is encouragingly apt to think Marriage a sufficient amends.
    Samuel Richardson (1689–1761)

That a marriage ends is less than ideal; but all things end under heaven, and if temporality is held to be invalidating, then nothing real succeeds.
    John Updike (b. 1932)

But most thro’ midnight streets I hear
    How the youthful Harlots curse
    Blasts the new-born Infants tear
And blights with plagues the Marriage hearse
    William Blake (1757–1827)
