Famous quotes containing the words war ii, world and/or war:
“I realized how for all of us who came of age in the late sixties and early seventies the war was a defining experience. —Linda Grant (b. 1949)
“It is a secret from nobody that the famous random event is most likely to arise from those parts of the world where the old adage There is no alternative to victory retains a high degree of plausibility.”
—Hannah Arendt (19061975)
“The war was won on both sides: by the Vietnamese on the ground, by the Americans in the electronic mental space. And if the one side won an ideological and political victory, the other made Apocalypse Now and that has gone right around the world.”
—Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)
