Heligoland - Flag

Flag

The Heligoland flag is very similar to its Coat of arms. A tricolour flag with three horizontal bars, from top to bottom: green, red and white. Each of the colours has its symbolic meaning, as expressed in its motto:

weiß ist der Strand,
das sind die Farben von Helgoland.

Gröön is dat Land,
rood is de Kant,
witt is de Sand,
dat sünd de Farven van't Helgoland.

det sen de Farven van't Hillige Lunn.

Green is the land,
Red is the cliff,1
White is the sand,2
