Garden
The Japanese-style garden takes up about half the land area (approx. 33060sq.m). Gardener Jihei Ogawa 7th created the garden over 20 years of period, and the water used in the ponds are provided from the Lake Biwa Canal. It is known that rare species (in Japan) such as the Acheilognathus cyanostigma, Yellow pond turtle and the Japanese pond turtle live around the ponds. Visitors may feed these fish and turtles with food sold around the ponds.

Poor little timid furry man.”

At the sea-downs edge between windward and lee,
Walled round with rocks as an inland island,
The ghost of a garden fronts the sea.”
