Emergency Healthcare

For emergency treatment, the government restructured hospitals are absolutely the best places to be treated, such as National University Hospital (NUH), Singapore General Hospital (SGH): just ask any taxi driver or dial 995 in an emergency. Children's emergency cases should go to NUH (West of Singapore) or KKH (Central Singapore).

For less serious and non-emergency cases, you can dial 1777 for access to various private ambulance operators.

For simple walk-in cases where you already know the problem (for example, you forgot your inhaler, or lost your prescription pills), any hospital or polyclinic will be fine. For more complex or diagnostic cases, expatriates would normally choose a private hospital such as Raffles Hospital, Mount Elizabeth, Mount Alvernia. These will usually (but not always) be more expensive than the government restructured hospitals, but waiting times are often significantly lower.
