Head and Neck Anatomy - Dental Perspective

Dental Perspective

Knowledge of head and neck anatomy is of paramount importance for dental surgeons and students. Knowledge of anatomy of nerves and other vital structures in the head and neck allows the dentist to perform diagnosis and surgery. For example, infected teeth can on rare occasions cause infection to spread leading to cavernous sinus thrombosis, mediastinitis, or Ludwig's angina causing airway blockage. Which of these potentially fatal outcomes may occur depends largely on the anatomy of the head and neck.

Famous quotes containing the words dental and/or perspective:

[T]hose wholemeal breads ... look hand-thrown, like studio pottery, and are fine if you have all your teeth. But if not, then not. Perhaps the rise ... of the ... factory-made loaf, which may easily be mumbled to a pap betweeen gums, reflects the sorry state of the nation’s dental health.
    Angela Carter (1940–1992)

Egoism is the law of perspective as it applies to feelings, according to which what is closest to us appears to be large and weighty, while size and weight decrease with our distance from things.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)
