Hawk (birdman) - Ship

Ship

Hawk has excellent flying instincts, which he inherited from his ancestor, which means he is an extremely good pilot, better even than Buck Rogers. He pilots a one-man spaceship that is designed to look like a predatory bird and has retractable grappling talons. The talons are used in "Time of the Hawk" to grab and destroy spaceships. Hawk also accidentally injures Koori with them during his duel with Buck. In a later episode, "Testimony of a Traitor", Hawk uses them to stop a marine who is pursuing Buck.

Famous quotes containing the word ship:

    O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
    The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won,
    The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
    While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
    But O heart! heart! heart!
    O the bleeding drops of red,
    Where on the deck my Captain lies,
    Fallen cold and dead.
    Walt Whitman (1819–1892)

    I do not know if you remember the tale of the girl who saves the ship under mutiny by sitting on the powder barrel with her lighted torch ... and all the time knowing that it is empty? This has seemed to me a charming image of the women of my time. There they were, keeping the world in order ... by sitting on the mystery of life, and knowing themselves that there was no mystery.
    Isak Dinesen [Karen Blixen] (1885–1962)

    If the oarsmen of a fast-moving ship suddenly cease to row, the suspension of the driving force of the oars doesn’t prevent the vessel from continuing to move on its course. And with a speech it is much the same. After he has finished reciting the document, the speaker will still be able to maintain the same tone without a break, borrowing its momentum and impulse from the passage he has just read out.
    Marcus Tullius Cicero (106–43 B.C)
