Operating Locomotives
Three vintage diesels have been restored to operation for excursion trains, and several steam locomotives have been cosmetically restored. The U.S. Navy in Oahu donated three diesels and the U. S. Army donated one locomotive in the 1970s. Only two of the Navy locomotives are operational.
Operating diesels include:
- #423, An ex-USNX Whitcomb 45-Ton switcher.
- #302, An ex-USNX Whitcomb 45-Ton switcher.
- #7750, An ex-US Army GE 25-Ton switcher.

Famous quotes containing the words operating and/or locomotives:
“Many people operate under the assumption that since parenting is a natural adult function, we should instinctively know how to do itand do it well. The truth is, effective parenting requires study and practice like any other skilled profession. Who would even consider turning an untrained surgeon loose in an operating room? Yet we operate on our children every day.”
—Louise Hart (20th century)
“The flower-fed buffaloes of the spring
In the days of long ago,
Ranged where the locomotives sing
And the prairie flowers lie low:”
—Vachel Lindsay (18791931)
