Future Non-conference Games
The NCAA permits Hawaiʻi to play one more than the normal 12 games during the regular season to recoup its unusually high travel costs to and from the mainland. The team's opponents who play at Hawaiʻi each season are also allowed one more game than their normal limit. Since the Western Athletic Conference does not stage a conference championship game, Hawaiʻi played eight games within its conference and five outside it through the 2010 season. In 2011, the Warriors played seven conference games and six non-conference games as a result of Boise State's move to the MW. In 2012, when Hawaiʻi joins the MW for football, that conference will have 10 football teams, but it will retain its current 8-game conference schedule for that season. Schedules beyond 2012 are in flux due to conference realignment issues.

“The Mind in Infancy is, methinks, like the Body in Embrio, and receives Impressions so forcible, that they are as hard to be removed by Reason, as any Mark with which a Child is born is to be taken away by any future Application.”
—Richard Steele (16721729)
“Intelligence and war are games, perhaps the only meaningful games left. If any player becomes too proficient, the game is threatened with termination.”
—William Burroughs (b. 1914)
