Haverfordwest Railway Station

Haverfordwest railway station serves the town of Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire, Wales.

The usual service pattern is one train every two hours in each direction, southwards to Milford Haven railway station and northwards to Manchester Piccadilly via Swansea, Cardiff Central and Hereford.

Whilst the station has two platforms (as the site of one of the passing loops on this section), most trains use platform one as it is adjacent to the entrance and ticket office.

The station is staffed during the daytime and has toilet facilities, a newspaper kiosk, ticket office and a station buffet.

From a bus stop outside the station, buses are available to St David's, Fishguard and Cardigan. There is also a Taxi rank directly outside the station.

Most trains normally use the former up platform, although the down platform is still open. Haverfordwest has won many awards, including the Anglo Irish Best Station Award in 1992. High speed train services stopped at Haverfordwest until the early 1990's, terminating in 1994. The station was refurbished in 2002 and officially re-opened on 25 April 2002.

Famous quotes containing the words railway and/or station:

Her personality had an architectonic quality; I think of her when I see some of the great London railway termini, especially St. Pancras, with its soot and turrets, and she overshadowed her own daughters, whom she did not understand—my mother, who liked things to be nice; my dotty aunt. But my mother had not the strength to put even some physical distance between them, let alone keep the old monster at emotional arm’s length.
    Angela Carter (1940–1992)

...I believe it is now the duty of the slaves of the South to rebuke their masters for their robbery, oppression and crime.... No station or character can destroy individual responsibility, in the matter of reproving sin.
    Angelina Grimké (1805–1879)
