Famous quotes containing the words opera house, harrison, opera and/or house:

The opera house sparkled with tiers
And tiers of eyes, like mine enlarged by belladonna,
    James Merrill (b. 1926)

Here may I not ask you to carry those inscriptions that now hang on the walls into your homes, into the schools of your city, into all of your great institutions where children are gathered, and teach them that the eye of the young and the old should look upon that flag as one of the familiar glories of every American?
    —Benjamin Harrison (1833–1901)

I wish the opera was every night. It is, of all entertainments, the sweetest and most delightful. Some of the songs seemed to melt my very soul.
    Frances Burney (1752–1840)

Between the house and barn the gale
Got him by something he had on
And blew him out on the icy crust
That cased the world, and he was gone!
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)
