Halloween Documents

The Halloween documents comprise a series of confidential Microsoft memoranda on potential strategies relating to free software, open-source software, and to Linux in particular, and a series of responses to these memoranda. Both the leaked documents and the responses were published by Eric S. Raymond in 1998.

The documents are associated with Halloween because many of them were originally leaked close to 31 October in different years.

Famous quotes containing the word documents:

Our medieval historians who prefer to rely as much as possible on official documents because the chronicles are unreliable, fall thereby into an occasionally dangerous error. The documents tell us little about the difference in tone which separates us from those times; they let us forget the fervent pathos of medieval life.
    Johan Huizinga (1872–1945)
