Hale House is a Queen Anne style Victorian mansion built in 1887 in the Highland Park section of northeast Los Angeles, California. It has been described as "the most photographed house in the entire city," and "the most elaborately decorated." In 1966, it was declared a Historic Cultural Monument and was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. The house was relocated in 1970 to the Heritage Square Museum in Montecito Heights where it remains open to the public.

Famous quotes containing the words hale and/or house:
“The best work of artists in any age is the work of innocence liberated by technical knowledge. The laboratory experiments that led to the theory of pure color equipped the impressionists to paint nature as if it had only just been created.”
—Nancy Hale (b. 1908)
“Mothers of America
let your kids go to the movies!
get them out of the house so they wont know what youre up to
its true that fresh air is good for the body
but what about the soul
that grows in darkness, embossed by silvery images”
—Frank OHara (19261966)
