History
Today, Hahn Air operates the industry's leading universal ET (E-Ticketing) platform.
Specialised in generating extra revenue for hundreds of partner airlines worldwide, more than 3 billion coupons per year are being issued on Hahn Air e-tickets (HR-169) in all GDS worldwide. 88,000 travel agencies in more than 190 markets (including 170 BSP, ARC and Non BSP countries) are exploited by Hahn Air. Hahn Air has made a profit in each of the last ten years, enjoying an average annual growth rate of more than 20%.
In 1994 Hahn Air was founded as independent regional carrier operating intra German routes with its base at the former military airbase Hahn, today well known as the Frankfurt Hahn Airport.
In 1997 Hahn Air completed its first BSP memberships in Germany and obtained the two-letter-designator HR as well as the billing code 169.
1999, Hahn Air flights might be sold in GDS Amadeus. Hahn Air signed the first interline agreements with four airlines from Latin America: Avianca, Aerolinas Argentinas, Varig and LAN. This marks the official beginning of Hahn Air's ticketing platform.
In 2001, Hahn Air became an IATA member airline and joined additional BSP countries mainly in Europe, including France, Great Britain and Spain. Hahn Air also started to expand its GDS presence in Sabre, Galileo and Worldspan.
In 2002, more BSP memberships were completed - including BSPs in several Asian countries as well as in Australia and New Zealand. Additional interline agreements were signed with airlines worldwide.
2003, Hahn Air changed its headquarter to Dreieich, 15 minutes away from Frankfurt/Main. Hahn Air became a member of the BSPs in Scandinavia and completes its 50th BSP membership with joining the Canadian BSP. General Sales Agents are appointed in all major markets to support travel agents locally.
2004, Hahn Air complemented its scheduled operations with business charter services and continued with the expansion of BSP memberships worldwide as well as the ARC membership in the U.S. Hahn Air joined the GDS Abacus and signed its 100th Interline Agreement.
In November 2006, the airline successfully implemented the Amadeus Ticketing Platform (ATP) and as a result, Hahn Air is able to offer a complete e-ticketing solution, including worldwide distribution. Following IATA's Simplifying the Business (StB) mandate, Hahn Air moved to 100% e-ticketing in June 2008. Today, Hahn Air's universal E-Ticketing platform is used by almost all IET-capable (Interline Electronic Ticketing) airlines.
2010, Hahn Air started to offer flights between Düsseldorf International Airport (DUS) and Findel Luxembourg Airport (LUX) twice a week. As first airline ever, Hahn Air concluded insurance agreement with Generali Versicherung AG to assure travel agents the issuance of insolvency-safe tickets for all Hahn Air partner airlines on HR-169 documents. In August, Hahn Air covered all BSP markets in Europe. Besides, Hahn Air set up local ticket offices in Non-BSP countries to achieve global presence and to make its ticketing service available to travel agents worldwide. In October, Hahn Air's English website became available in 5 additional languages (Spanish, French, Portuguese, Russian and Japanese).
In 2012, Hahn Air extended its insolvency insurance by launching the service “Securtix” that not only includes the refund of the unused part of a HR-169 e-ticket in case the operating Hahn Air partner airline goes insolvent but also offers a compensation to stranded passengers.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“It is remarkable how closely the history of the apple tree is connected with that of man.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“In history the great moment is, when the savage is just ceasing to be a savage, with all his hairy Pelasgic strength directed on his opening sense of beauty;and you have Pericles and Phidias, and not yet passed over into the Corinthian civility. Everything good in nature and in the world is in that moment of transition, when the swarthy juices still flow plentifully from nature, but their astrigency or acridity is got out by ethics and humanity.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“Universal history is the history of a few metaphors.”
—Jorge Luis Borges (18991986)
