Hagerstown Suns

The Hagerstown Suns are a Minor League Baseball team based in Hagerstown, Maryland, United States. They play in Municipal Stadium, which was opened in 1930 and seats 4,600 fans.

The team, which plays in the South Atlantic League, is a Class A affiliate of the Washington Nationals.

With the development contract with the Washington Nationals ending at the end of the 2012 season, and a move on both parts to continue baseball arrangements together; the Hagerstown Suns as of February 2012 are in the process of reviewing the options of a move from Hagerstown, Maryland to another city possibly nearby Winchester, Virginia or building a new stadium. The Washington Nationals are requesting the Hagerstown Suns in order to receive a new player development contract, either need to build a new stadium in Hagerstown, Maryland or make a move to another city in order to build a new stadium. In March 2012, Winchester, Va City Council vetos new stadium plans brought before them, but Hagerstown, Md City Council is now announcing that they are close to signing an agreement with the Suns that would allow them to remain in the City. The Hagerstown Suns relocation/new stadium takes a new turn, in September 2012, with the announcement of an anonymous donor who pledges 15 million dollars for a new stadium to be built in Hagerstown, Maryland
