Gutter Punk

A gutter punk is a homeless or transient individual who displays a variety of specific physical traits and characteristics that often, but not always, are associated with the punk subculture. Attributes may include unkempt dreadlocks, nose rings, mohawk hairstyles, low quality tattoos, or army-style clothing.

In certain regions, gutter punks are notorious for panhandling and drug use, often displaying cardboard signs that make statements about their lifestyles.

Gutter punks are generally characterized as being voluntarily unemployed in a "mainstream" sense. Some earn a living through their creative arts. They are also known as "crusties" or "hipster hobos."
