Grocery Outlet

Grocery Outlet, first known as Canned Foods Grocery Outlet until 1987, is a privately owned supermarket chain. Founded in 1946 in San Francisco, California, it currently operates within the Western states of California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, and Arizona. The company was in the Texas market for a few years after buying the Yes!Less chain from (now defunct) Fleming, however all Texas stores have now been closed. It is a value-oriented grocery retailer — what the company dubs extreme-value. The company primarily operates stores under the Grocery Outlet name and was in a dispute with Albertsons over the use of the Lucky brand. Supervalu now operates 3 stores under the Lucky brand.

Famous quotes containing the words grocery and/or outlet:

We all have bad days, of course, a secret that only makes us feel more guilty. But once my friends and I started telling the truth about how far we deviated from perfection, we couldn’t stop. . . . One mother admitted leaving the grocery store without her kids—”I just forgot them. The manager found them in the frozen foods aisle, eating Eskimo Pies.”
    Mary Kay Blakely (20th century)

A lock-jaw that bends a man’s head back to his heels, hydrophobia, that makes him bark at his wife and babes, insanity, that makes him eat grass; war, plague; cholera, famine, indicate a certain ferocity in nature, which, as it had its inlet by human crime, must have its outlet by human suffering.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
