Assassinations

  • Doğan Öz, public prosecutor assassinated on 24 March 1978 by Haluk Kırcı, a Grey Wolves activist.
  • Abdi İpekçi, journalist assassinated on February 1, 1979 in Istanbul.
  • Tassos Isaac, a Greek Cypriot refugee who participated in a civilian demonstration against the Turkish military presence in Cyprus, murdered on 11 August 1996 by a mob of Grey Wolves inside the United Nations Buffer Zone in Cyprus.
  • Maraş Massacre on 21 December 1978 of hundreds, perhaps thousands, of Alevis by Grey Wolves.
  • Kutlu Adali, Turkish Cypriot journalist, killed July 6, 1996. Adali had criticised the Denktash regime and its policies in Cyprus.
