Famous quotes containing the words greek, national, socialist and/or party:

I am not a Catholic; but I consider the Christian idea, which has its roots in Greek thought and in the course of the centuries has nourished all of our European civilization, as something that one cannot renounce without becoming degraded.
    Simone Weil (1909–1943)

    James A. Garfield (1831–1881)

Democracy is the wholesome and pure air without which a socialist public organization cannot live a full-blooded life.
    Mikhail Gorbachev (b. 1931)

This is of all flattery the most pleasing, and consequently the most effectual.
Philip Dormer Stanhope, 4th Earl Chesterfield (1694–1773)
