Baseball Champions
The Great West Conference sponsored its inaugural baseball championship tournament in 2010, and has held the event in different cities during its first three years of existence. The league has also experimented with formats, using pool play in 2010, but a traditional double elimination bracket in 2011 and 2012. Utah Valley has claimed every regular season and tournament championship in the short history of the conference. As in other sports, the Great West does not have an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship. The league also has yet to earn an at-large invitation.

Famous quotes containing the words baseball and/or champions:
“I dont like comparisons with football. Baseball is an entirely different game. You can watch a tight, well-played football game, but it isnt exciting if half the stadium is empty. The violence on the field must bounce off a lot of people. But you can go to a ball park on a quiet Tuesday afternoon with only a few thousand people in the place and thoroughly enjoy a one-sided game. Baseball has an aesthetic, intellectual appeal found in no other team sport.”
—Bowie Kuhn (b. 1926)
“While the Governor, and the Mayor, and countless officers of the Commonwealth are at large, the champions of liberty are imprisoned.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
