Gravy Train is an American commercial dog food. Originally developed by General Foods, it was the first brand of dog food to have the feature when warm water is added to the dry kibble, a brown gravy forms when mixed with the kibble's powder coating. The gravy makes the food more palatable for the dog.
The advertising catchphrase is "The Gravy Taste Dogs Can't Wait to Finish."
Although once a brand of General Foods Corporation as part of its Gaines Division which included Gaines Meal, Gaines-Burgers, Prime & Top Choice, Gravy Train has been a brand of Del Monte Foods Pet Products division since 2002.
Famous quotes containing the words gravy and/or train:
“The American, if he has a spark of national feeling, will be humiliated by the very prospect of a foreigners visit to Congressthese, for the most part, illiterate hacks whose fancy vests are spotted with gravy, and whose speeches, hypocritical, unctuous, and slovenly, are spotted also with the gravy of political patronage, these persons are a reflection on the democratic process rather than of it; they expose it in its process rather than of it; they expose it in its underwear.”
—Mary McCarthy (19121989)
“Constant revolutionizing of production ... distinguish the bourgeois epoch from all earlier ones. All fixed, fast-frozen relations, with their train of ancient and venerable prejudices are swept away, all new-formed ones become antiquated before they can ossify. All that is solid melts into air, all that is holy is profaned, and man is at last compelled to face with sober senses, his real conditions of life, and his relations with his kind.”
—Karl Marx (18181883)
