Grange Railway Station - History

History

The current location of Grange railway station, on the eastern side of Military Road, dates from 9 March 1986. Previously the station was located on the western side of Military Road. The station was moved to prevent traffic flow along Military Road from being interrupted by the arrival of trains. This platform still remains intact. The first platform of the three platforms (1882) was to the north east of the current platform in Terminus Street. There are no visible remains.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

He wrote in prison, not a History of the World, like Raleigh, but an American book which I think will live longer than that. I do not know of such words, uttered under such circumstances, and so copiously withal, in Roman or English or any history.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

“And now this is the way in which the history of your former life has reached my ears!” As he said this he held out in his hand the fatal letter.
    Anthony Trollope (1815–1882)

All things are moral. That soul, which within us is a sentiment, outside of us is a law. We feel its inspiration; out there in history we can see its fatal strength.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
