On June 23, 1850, Father James Lloyd Breck of the Episcopal Church said the first Christian liturgy (Episcopalian liturgy) in La Crosse on top of Grandad Bluff.

Grandad Bluff was mentioned in Life on the Mississippi by Mark Twain.
