Community Involvement
As Grand River Enterprises Six Nations Limited profits increased, the shareholders have continued to give back to their community. The creation of the Dreamcatcher Fund was an effort of Grand River Enterprises Six Nations Limited to improve the quality of life of individuals across the country. The Dreamcatcher Fund has sponsored children to participate in sports such as hockey and lacrosse; it has sponsored Little NHL teams so that these underprivileged teams can attend tournaments, and has sponsored students to facilitate attendance at post-secondary and post-graduate studies. Famous quotes containing the words community and/or involvement:
“I don’t think Dr. King helped racial harmony, I think he helped racial justice. What I profess to do is help the oppressed and if I cause a load of discomfort in the white community and the black community, that in my opinion means I’m being effective, because I’m not trying to make them comfortable. The job of an activist is to make people tense and cause social change.”
—Al, Reverend Sharpton (b. 1954)
“It may be tempting to focus on the fact that, even among those who support equality, men’s involvement as fathers remains a far distance from what most women want and most children need. Yet it is also important to acknowledge how far and how fast many men have moved towards a pattern that not long ago virtually all men considered anathema.”
—Katherine Gerson (20th century)
