Grand Cities Mall

The Grand Cities Mall (or South Forks Plaza) is an enclosed shopping mall located on South Washington Street in Grand Forks, North Dakota. It was the first enclosed shopping mall built in North Dakota, but by a quirk of fate, the second opened to the public by only six days difference. The mall covers 351,429 sq ft (32,648.8 m2) and is anchored by Kmart, Family Dollar and Ace Hardware. The Grand Cities Mall has many other smaller stores, including a few national chains, although most tenants are local businesses. The mall opened in 1964.

Famous quotes containing the words grand, cities and/or mall:

The most refined skills of color printing, the intricate techniques of wide-angle photography, provide us pictures of trivia bigger and more real than life. We forget that we see trivia and notice only that the reproduction is so good. Man fulfils his dream and by photographic magic produces a precise image of the Grand Canyon. The result is not that he adores nature or beauty the more. Instead he adores his camera—and himself.
    Daniel J. Boorstin (b. 1914)

Satire is born of the cities it denounces.
    Mason Cooley (b. 1927)

Finishing schools in the fifties were a good place to store girls for a few years before marrying them off, a satisfactory rest stop between college weekends spent husband hunting. It was a haven for those of us adept at styling each other’s hair, playing canasta, and chain smoking Pall Mall extra-long cigarettes.
    Barbara Howar (b. 1934)
