In December 1999, while a Sophomore at the University of Vermont, Mink was named as a defendant in a hazing lawsuit brought by a former teammate against the school and members of the team.
On September 16, 2001, Mink was involved in an off-campus fight, in which he was arrested and charged with attempted aggravated assault. Mink was arraigned on November 15, and on June 23, 2003, he pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of simple assault and served 30 days in jail.
Mink is married to wife Cristina and has a son. He also has a real estate license in his home state of Vermont.
