Member of The Legislative Assembly
Gosse was elected Speaker of the House on January 19, 2011. Gosse is also currently the Chair of the House of Assembly Management Commission and Chair of the Assembly Matters Committee.

Days later, Gosse made the news again for his strict Blackberry policy in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. He stressed that MLAs should not be using their smartphones during question period and that he would start confiscating phones if his rule was broken.
