Similar Festivals
Throughout Europe there are similar fire festivals held on the 23rd and 24 June. St. John's Eve in Ireland, Jāņi in Latvia and Saint Jonas' Festival are but a few examples. Golowan is just one example of a much wider Midsummer European tradition.
