God's Missionary Church

God’s Missionary Church is a Protestant denomination within the tradition of Wesleyan Methodism. It is part of the conservative holiness movement. It was organized in 1935 as a result of gospel tent meetings held throughout central Pennsylvania by evangelists Rev. William Straub and Rev. Daniel Dubendorf. Today, there are nearly 50 churches (most of them in Pennsylvania), as well as missions stations in other countries. The president of the denomination is Rev. Harry Plank. God's Missionary Church also operates a non-accredited training school called Penn View Bible Institute. Both the denomination headquarters and the school are based in Penns Creek, Pennsylvania. On July 25, 2010, the God's Missionary Church celebrated its 75th anniversary.

Famous quotes containing the words god, missionary and/or church:

Don’t they know that God gave them
    their miraculous sickness
    like a shield, like armor
and if their eyes are in the wrong
part of their heads, they shouldn’t complain?
What are they doing seeing their doctors
when the world’s up for grabs.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

The missionary is no longer a man, a conscience. He is a corpse, in the hands of a confraternity, without family, without love, without any of the sentiments that are dear to us.... Emasculated, in a sense, by his vow of chastity, he offers us the distressing spectacle of a man deformed and impotent or engaged in a stupid and useless struggle with the sacred needs of the flesh, a struggle which, seven times out of ten, leads him to sodomy, the gallows, or prison.
    Paul Gauguin (1848–1903)

Be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives, be subject to your husbands as you are to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife just as Christ is the head of the church, the body of which he is the Savior. Just as the church is subject to Christ, so also wives ought to be, in everything, to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her...
