Relationship With Creation
Muslims believe that creation of everything in the universe is brought into being by God’s sheer command “‘Be’ and so it is.” and that the purpose of existence is to worship God. He is viewed as a personal God who responds whenever a person in need or distress calls Him. There are no intermediaries, such as clergy, to contact God who states in the Qur'an "We have created man, and We know whatever thoughts his inner self thinks, and We are closer to him than (his) jugular vein". Ṣaḥīḥ Bukhārī narrates a ḥadīth qudsī that God says, "I am as My servant thinks (expects) I am".

“For me, the principal fact of life is the free mind. For good and evil, man is a free creative spirit. This produces the very queer world we live in, a world in continuous creation and therefore continuous change and insecurity. A perpetually new and lively world, but a dangerous one, full of tragedy and injustice. A world in everlasting conflict between the new idea and the old allegiances, new arts and new inventions against the old establishment.”
—Joyce Cary (18881957)
