Experiences
Most reports from Persinger's lab consist of people sensing "presences"; people often interpreted these to be that of of angels, a deceased being known to the subject, or a group of beings of some kind. There have also been reports in which the participant has experienced what they perceive as God. Persinger reports that "at least" 80 percent of his participants experience a presence beside them in the room, whilst about one percent report an experience of "God", and others report less evocative experiences of "another consciousness or sentient being".

Famous quotes containing the word experiences:
“So while it is true that children are exposed to more information and a greater variety of experiences than were children of the past, it does not follow that they automatically become more sophisticated. We always know much more than we understand, and with the torrent of information to which young people are exposed, the gap between knowing and understanding, between experience and learning, has become even greater than it was in the past.”
—David Elkind (20th century)
“How the devil am I to prove to my counsel that I dont know my murderous impulses through C.G. Jung, jealousy through Marcel Proust, Spain through Hemingway ... Its true, you need never have read these authorities, you can absorb them through your friends, who also live all their experiences second-hand. What an age!”
—Max Frisch (19111991)
“Realism holds that things known may continue to exist unaltered when they are not known, or that things may pass in and out of the cognitive relation without prejudice to their reality, or that the existence of a thing is not correlated with or dependent upon the fact that anybody experiences it, perceives it, conceives it, or is in any way aware of it.”
—William Pepperell Montague (18421910)
