Global Warming and Wildlife

Global Warming Pollution Reduction Act (S. 309) Defenders of Wildlife

The main concern of scientists and Defenders of Wildlife is global warming issues. The world and the U.S are extremely threatened by rising sea levels, melting ice, draughts, and distractions of species. As consequence, it was proposed to reduce global warming pollutants and as solution to this problem, Senators Bernie Sanders and Barbara Boxer introduced the Global Warming Pollution Reduction Act of 2007. The purpose of this bill is to avoid the most catastrophic consequences of global warming by increasing energy efficiency, which will reduce air pollution, oil, and produce more jobs. Moreover, the bill creates targets of pollution reduction, which help to keep temperature below a dangerous “tipping point”, beyond which climate change will be unavoidable.

Famous quotes containing the words global, warming and/or wildlife:

    However global I strove to become in my thinking over the past twenty years, my sons kept me rooted to an utterly pedestrian view, intimately involved with the most inspiring and fractious passages in human development. However unconsciously by now, motherhood informs every thought I have, influencing everything I do. More than any other part of my life, being a mother taught me what it means to be human.
    Mary Kay Blakely (20th century)

    Thine age asks ease, and since thy duties be
    To warm the world, that’s done in warming us.
    Shine here to us, and thou art everywhere;
    This bed thy center is, these walls, thy sphere.
    John Donne (1572–1631)

    Russian forests crash down under the axe, billions of trees are dying, the habitations of animals and birds are layed waste, rivers grow shallow and dry up, marvelous landscapes are disappearing forever.... Man is endowed with creativity in order to multiply that which has been given him; he has not created, but destroyed. There are fewer and fewer forests, rivers are drying up, wildlife has become extinct, the climate is ruined, and the earth is becoming ever poorer and uglier.
    Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860–1904)
