History
The district has been attempting to eliminate a sizable accumulated deficit, and two referendums for tax increases during the 2004-05 school year failed. As of the 2005-2006 school year, students were forced to take no more than 6 classes in a day, as opposed to 7 in previous years. On March 21, 2006, a referendum which asked for less of a tax increase and simply aimed to restore students' ability to take a full slate of 7 courses passed during the primary elections.
On December 12, 2005, Dr. Michael Meissen from LaFollette High School in Madison, WI was officially appointed as the superintendent of the district.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“No matter how vital experience might be while you lived it, no sooner was it ended and dead than it became as lifeless as the piles of dry dust in a school history book.”
—Ellen Glasgow (18741945)
“We dont know when our name came into being or how some distant ancestor acquired it. We dont understand our name at all, we dont know its history and yet we bear it with exalted fidelity, we merge with it, we like it, we are ridiculously proud of it as if we had thought it up ourselves in a moment of brilliant inspiration.”
—Milan Kundera (b. 1929)
“The disadvantage of men not knowing the past is that they do not know the present. History is a hill or high point of vantage, from which alone men see the town in which they live or the age in which they are living.”
—Gilbert Keith Chesterton (18741936)
