“The way to go to the circus, however, is with someone who has seen perhaps one theatrical performance before in his life and that in the High School hall.... “Below me trees unnumbered rise,
Beautiful in various dyes:
The gloomy pine, the poplar blue,
The yellow beech, the sable yew,
The slender fir that taper grows,
The sturdy oak with broad-spread boughs.”
—John Dyer (16991758)
“His valors shown upon our crests today
Have taught us how to cherish such high deeds
Even in the bosom of our adversaries.”

The lack of liberty, the squeeze of the law
And discipline should be in school and state....”
