Glasgow University Sports Association - Management

Management

The Association is managed by the GUSA Council, a body of sixteen members elected in the Spring. The Council comprises the Executive (made up by the President, Vice-President, and Secretary), nine Convenors (Club Sport, Recreation, Health & Fitness, Finance, Publicity, Alumni, Travel, Welfare and Fundraising & Outreach), four Ordinary Members and two Ordinary Associate Members. The position of President is a sabbatical post, for which the holder takes a year out from their studies and is paid by the University. The current 2012/13 President is Chris Millar.

Members of University Staff are also appointed to the Council to represent the Association to the management of the University. These are the Honorary President, Honorary Treasurer, Honorary Vice-President and Court and Senate Representatives. The current Honorary President is Professor Frank Coton, Vice-Principal for Learning and Development.

Famous quotes containing the word management:

People have described me as a “management bishop” but I say to my critics, “Jesus was a management expert too.”
    George Carey (b. 1935)

The care of a house, the conduct of a home, the management of children, the instruction and government of servants, are as deserving of scientific treatment and scientific professors and lectureships as are the care of farms, the management of manure and crops, and the raising and care of stock.
    Catherine E. Beecher (1800–1878)

No officer should be required or permitted to take part in the management of political organizations, caucuses, conventions, or election campaigns. Their right to vote and to express their views on public questions, either orally or through the press, is not denied, provided it does not interfere with the discharge of their official duties. No assessment for political purposes on officers or subordinates should be allowed.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)
