In the 1983 Primetime Emmy Award, writers and co-creators, Glen and Les Charles, won the Emmy Award in 1983 for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series for this episode. The duo also earned a Writers Guild of America Award for Best Screenplay - Episodic Comedy. This episode earned the production designer Richard Sylbert and the set decorator George Gaines an Emmy Award nomination for an Outstanding Art Direction for a Series, but they lost to Tales of the Gold Monkey.
