The Giga Pets Explorer can be plugged into a television, enabling the user to have their mini-pet pair up with a dog, a panda, or a monkey, onscreen. These animals have the ability to dig for items buried under blue flowers. They have emotions and feelings such as hunger and exhaustion. As with real animals, these on-screen pets require attention and care. They can also learn up to three tricks which are different depending on the animal you choose. The object of the game is to complete as many quests as possible which unlocks new areas of the giga pet map. The soundtrack touches on a number of different genres from island beats to more downbeat pieces.

Famous quotes containing the words pets and/or explorer:
“How wonderful to meet such a natural little girl. She knows what she wants and she asks for it. Not like these over-civilized little pets that have to go through analysis before they can choose an ice cream soda.”
—John Lee Mahin (19021984)
“Treading the soil of the moon, palpating its pebbles, tasting the panic and splendor of the event, feeling in the pit of ones stomach the separation from terra ... these form the most romantic sensation an explorer has ever known ... this is the only thing I can say about the matter. The utilitarian results do not interest me.”
—Vladimir Nabokov (18991977)
