Ghantasala was honoured with the "Padmashri" by the Government of India.

He won the best playback singer award in AP State every year for nearly 3 decades of his entire career as playback singer.

Various Awards after his name are given every year to various musical artists viz., "Ghantasala melody king award" - Popular artists who are recipients of this award include K J Yesudas, Playback singer; P Suseela, playback singer, Indian Idol Sri Ramachandra etc.

Ghantasala Arts Academy has instituted the "Ghantasala National Award" and the first award was given to S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, playback singer

The Government music college in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh is named after Ghantasala.

"Ghantasala Sangeetha Kalasala" college in Hyderabad and Vizag offers six-month and one-year diploma courses on Ghantasala light music, songs and music.

Ghantasala is the first movie singer-composer of the South in whose memory a stamp and first day cover was released in the year 2003 by the Govt. of India.

After the saint poet Annamacharya, Ghantasala has been the only singer who rendered devotional songs inside the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple near the Moola Virat.
