Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Marching Band

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Marching Band (also known as the Marching Yellow Jackets) is the official marching band of the Georgia Institute of Technology. Founded in 1908 by a group of 14 students, the Georgia Tech Band is one of the school's oldest student organizations.

The Yellow Jacket Marching Band performs at all home football games, and the pep band, composed of a contingent of marching band members, plays at all home basketball games. At least a portion of the marching band or pep band travels to most away games, as financed by the Georgia Tech Athletic Association.

Famous quotes containing the words georgia, yellow, jacket, marching and/or band:

Being a Georgia author is a rather specious dignity, on the same order as, for the pig, being a Talmadge ham.
    Flannery O’Connor (1925–1964)

    Come unto these yellow sands,
    And then take hands.
Curtsied when you have and kissed
    The wild waves whist,
    Foot it featly here and there;
And, sweet sprites, the burden bear.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

And what’s romance? Usually, a nice little tale where you have everything As You Like It, where rain never wets your jacket and gnats never bite your nose and it’s always daisy-time.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)

What if there’s nothing up there at the top?
Where are the captains that govern mankind?
What tears down a tree that has nothing within it?
A blast of wind, O a marching wind,
March wind, and any old tune,
March march and how does it run.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

The band waked me with a serenade. How they improve! A fine band and what a life in a regiment! Their music is better than food and clothing to give spirit to the men.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)
