Georgia O'Keeffe Museum - Research Center

Research Center

The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Research Center, housed in the historic late-19th-century Bergere House at 135 Grant Street in Santa Fe, sponsors research in American Modernism (late 19th century–present) by awarding stipends through its competitive scholar program to historians in the fields of art, architecture, design, literature, music, and photography, and to museum professionals for organizing an exhibition at the Museum.

It opened in July 2001 and is the only museum-related research facility in the world dedicated to the study of American Modernism. An extensive collection includes the libraries O’Keeffe maintained at her Ghost Ranch house, archives with numerous documents and correspondence pertaining to O’Keeffe and her contemporaries, and all of the personal property O’Keeffe owned at the time of her death in 1986, such as artist materials and found objects.

Famous quotes containing the words research and/or center:

It is a good morning exercise for a research scientist to discard a pet hypothesis every day before breakfast. It keeps him young.
    Konrad Lorenz (1903–1989)

Everything that explains the world has in fact explained a world that does not exist, a world in which men are at the center of the human enterprise and women are at the margin “helping” them. Such a world does not exist—never has.
    Gerda Lerner (b. 1920)
