Family
Walker comes from a successful family of industrialists and financiers, originally from St. Louis, Missouri. Walker's great-grandfather, George Herbert Walker, was the founder of G. H. Walker & Co., a securities firm, which eventually became part of Merrill Lynch. An avid golfer, he was also the namesake of amateur golf's Walker Cup. His grandfather, George Herbert Walker, Jr., was a co-founder of the NY Mets and his father, George Herbert Walker III, was U. S. ambassador to Hungary. Walker was raised in St. Louis, Missouri and has a younger sister, Carter. Walker's grand-aunt, Dorothy, married Senator Prescott Bush, father of U.S. President George Herbert Walker Bush and grandfather of U.S. President George Walker Bush. He is thus a second cousin of former President George W. Bush.
He is married to the former Nancy Dorn.

Famous quotes containing the word family:
“Every family should extend First Amendment rights to all its members, but this freedom is particularly essential for our kids. Children must be able to say what they think, openly express their feelings, and ask for what they want and need if they are ever able to develop an integrated sense of self. They must be able to think their own thoughts, even if they differ from ours. They need to have the opportunity to ask us questions when they dont understand what we mean.”
—Stephanie Martson (20th century)
“It is turning three hundred years
On our cisatlantic shore
For family after family name.
Well make it three hundred more”
—Robert Frost (18741963)
“Freud is all nonsense; the secret of neurosis is to be found in the family battle of wills to see who can refuse longest to help with the dishes. The sink is the great symbol of the bloodiness of family life.”
—Julian Mitchell (20th century)
