George Albert Smith - Marriage and Family

Marriage and Family

On May 25, 1892, Smith married Lucy Emily Woodruff, the grand-daughter of Wilford Woodruff, in the Manti Temple. The couple later had three children. Lucy had spent much of her time growing up in the household of her grandfather Wilford Woodruff, and looked on him as almost more of a father than a grandfather. Smith's son George Albert Smith, Jr. became a professor at Harvard Business School.

Famous quotes containing the words marriage and/or family:

Our home has been nothing but a play-room. I’ve been your doll-wife here, just as at home I was Papa’s doll-child. And the children have been my dolls in their turn. I liked it when you came and played with me, just as they liked it when I came and played with them. That’s what our marriage has been, Torvald.
    Henrik Ibsen (1828–1906)

The family is on its way out; couples go next; then no more keeping cats or parrots.
    Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
