Geological Survey of Pakistan

The Geological Survey of Pakistan (GSP) is Pakistan's central engineering agency in charge of mapping and surveying. It was established in 1947 in Quetta, Balochistan, is one of the research institutes of Pakistan. It is the organizational successor to the UK Ordnance Survey in that part of the world. The GSP's mission is to develop, interpret and provide geological information about the country that may lead to the prudent management of its natural resources and contribute to the development. According to its charter, GSP "is responsible for the study of geology of the country in all pertinent details and to assess its resource potential."

Famous quotes containing the words geological and/or survey:

The crystal sphere of thought is as concentrical as the geological structure of the globe. As our soils and rocks lie in strata, concentric strata, so do all men’s thinkings run laterally, never vertically.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

In a famous Middletown study of Muncie, Indiana, in 1924, mothers were asked to rank the qualities they most desire in their children. At the top of the list were conformity and strict obedience. More than fifty years later, when the Middletown survey was replicated, mothers placed autonomy and independence first. The healthiest parenting probably promotes a balance of these qualities in children.
    Richard Louv (20th century)
